The Elephanta Caves are located on the island of the same name, just 8km from Mumbai. The caves are used to worship the Hindu god Shiva. At the north entrance you can see the Trimurati statue - Shiva as Mahadeva. The caves have been part of UNESCO since 1987.
Die Elephanta-Höhlen befinden sich auf der gleichnamigen Insel, nur 8km von Mumbai entfernt. Die Höhlen dienen der Verehrung des hinduistischen Gottes Shiva. Am Nordeingang sieht man die Trimurati Statue - Shiva als Mahadeva. Die Höhlen sind seit 1987 Teil der UNESCO.
