Opera House
The Yerevan Opera House, officially the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, stands as the proud cultural centerpiece of the Armenian capital. Designed by the renowned architect Alexander Tamanyan, the building was officially opened in 1933 and masterfully combines Neoclassical elements with traditional Armenian architectural styles. Its striking semi-circular shape and the use of local grey basalt give the structure a monumental yet elegant presence on Liberty Square. The building houses two separate halls—the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall and the Opera Theatre—highlighting its functional versatility. Surrounded by expansive parks, statues of famous composers, and lively cafes, the opera serves as a central meeting point for locals and tourists alike. As a symbol of national identity, its architecture reflects Armenia's cultural revival in the 20th century and remains one of the country's most important landmarks today.

Opernhaus

Khor Virap - Chor Wirap

Khor Virap Monastery, whose name means "deep dungeon," is one of Armenia's most significant religious sites, located in the Ararat Province, near the Turkish border. It is closely linked to the Christianization of Armenia, as it was here that Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for thirteen years by King Tiridates III before converting the king and leading Armenia to become the first nation in the world to adopt Christianity as its state religion. The cell where Gregory the Illuminator was held is still located beneath the monastery today and can be visited. The monastery complex itself, with its impressive Mother of God Church and the older Saint George's Chapel, largely dates back to the 17th century.

Jahrhundert.
