Udover sin vigtige rolle for den daglige lokaltrafik og godstransport har den enkeltsporede strækning stor betydning for den regionale turisme. Banen opnåede særlig berømmelse gennem et populært dansk 80'er-hit, som gav den ægte kultstatus.

Die Lemvigbahn, offiziell als VLTJ bekannt, ist eine traditionsreiche Regionalbahn im Westen der dänischen Region Nordjütland. Sie verbindet seit dem späten 19. The Lemvig Railway, officially known as VLTJ, is a historic regional railway in the western part of North Denmark.  Route 66 is regarded as America's most legendary highway, originally stretching nearly 4,000 kilometers from Chicago to Santa Monica. Officially commissioned in 1926, it quickly became one of the country's vital east-west arteries for travel and commerce. During the Great Depression and subsequent decades, the route carried millions of people migrating westward, deeply shaping American cultural history. A vibrant roadside culture of iconic motels, classic diners, and neon signs flourished along the way, cementing the myth of freedom on the open road. Although the expansion of modern Interstate highways led to its official decommission in the 1980s, large portions of the historic alignment still attract adventurers from around the globe.

Die Route 66 gilt als die legendärste Hauptstraße der USA und erstreckte sich ursprünglich über knapp 4.000 Kilometer von Chicago bis nach Santa Monica. Sie wurde 1926 offiziell eröffnet und wuchs schnell zu einer der wichtigsten Ost-West-Verbindungen des Landes heran. The Ayutthaya Historical Park in Thailand encompasses the impressive ruins of the former magnificent capital of the Kingdom of Siam and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the heart of this historical complex lies Wat Mahathat, famous for hosting one of Southeast Asia's most captivating imagery. There, the stone head of a Buddha statue is mystically entwined and enveloped within the powerful roots of a banyan tree. Over the centuries, the growing tree gently lifted the relic without damaging its serene features.

 The Al-Hakim at-Tirmidhi complex is located on the banks of the Amu Darya River near the ancient fortress of Termez in southern Uzbekistan. This important pilgrimage site developed over the final resting place of the famous 9th-century Sufi scholar and theologian Abu Abdallah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hakim at-Tirmidhi. Between the 9th and 16th centuries, the site evolved into a versatile architectural ensemble combining a central mausoleum, a multi-domed mosque, and quarters for pilgrims.

 Le léopard d'Afrique de l'Ouest est l'un des grands félins les plus menacés de la planète, ayant perdu la majeure partie de son aire de répartition historique. Au Sénégal, ces prédateurs discrets et adaptables trouvent aujourd'hui refuge presque exclusivement dans l'écosystème protégé du parc national du Niokolo-Koba. Cette immense aire protégée, située dans le sud-est du pays, abrite environ 400 individus, ce qui représente la plus forte densité de léopards subsistant dans toute l'Afrique de l'Ouest. Dans les savanes et les forêts-galeries denses de la région, ces chasseurs solitaires s'attaquent principalement aux ongulés tels que les guibs harnachés et les céphalophes. Malgré d'intenses efforts internationaux de conservation, cette population isolée continue de souffrir du braconnage illégal und de la raréfaction de ses proies. C'est pourquoi la préservation de ces élégants fauves au Sénégal est considérée como une clé essentielle à la survie de toute la sous-espèce dans la région.

 The West African leopard is one of the most critically endangered big cats on Earth, having lost the vast majority of its historical range. In Senegal, these elusive and adaptable predators now find refuge almost exclusively within the protected ecosystem of the Niokolo-Koba National Park. This massive conservation area in the southeastern part of the country is home to an estimated 400 individuals, making it the highest remaining leopard density in all of West Africa. Within the local savannas and dense gallery forests, these solitary hunters primarily prey on ungulates such as bushbucks and duikers. Despite intensive international conservation efforts, the isolated population continues to suffer from illegal poaching and a dwindling prey base. Therefore, preserving these elegant predators in Senegal is considered a crucial key to the survival of the entire subspecies across the region.

 Der Westafrikanische Leopard gehört zu den am stärksten bedrohten Großkatzen der Erde und hat einen Großteil seines ursprünglichen Verbreitungsgebietes verloren. Im Senegal finden die scheuen und anpassungsfähigen Raubkatzen heute fast ausschließlich im geschützten Ökosystem des Niokolo-Koba-Nationalparks eine Zuflucht. Dieses riesige Schutzgebiet im Südosten des Landes beherbergt mit schätzungsweise 400 Individuen die größte verbliebene Leopardendichte in ganz Westafrika. Ursprünglich im Mittelalter als mittelalterliche Burg zum Schutz der deutschen Kaiser auf ihren Jagdausflügen erbaut, blickt die Anlage auf eine wechselvolle Geschichte zurück. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte erlebte das Bauwerk tiefgreifende Veränderungen, darunter einen Umbau zur barocken Residenzfestung im 16. Jahrhundert. Sein heutiges, märchenhaftes Aussehen im Stil des Historismus verdankt das Schloss jedoch einem umfassenden Umbau im späten 19. Jahrhundert unter Graf Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode. Heute fungiert das imposante Gebäude als vielbesuchtes Museum, das Besuchern in fast 50 originalgetreu eingerichteten Räumen den herrschaftlichen Lebensstil des deutschen Hochadels näherbringt. Neben den prachtvollen Innenräumen begeistert das „Neuschwanstein des Harzes“ zudem mit einer wunderschönen Gartenanlage und einem weiten Ausblick über die umliegende Harzlandschaft.

Wernigerode Castle towers majestically on a hill above the town of the same name in the Harz Mountains, catching the eye from afar. Originally built in the Middle Ages as a fortress to protect German emperors on their hunting trips, the complex looks back on a long and eventful history. Over the centuries, the structure underwent profound changes, including a transformation into a Baroque residence in the 16th century. However, the castle owes its current, fairytale-like appearance in the Historicist style to an extensive remodeling in the late 19th century under Count Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode. Заселеныя ў межах Праграмы развіцця ААН статкі цалкам свабодна пасуцца на велізарных прыродных поймах рэк Прыпяць і Сцвіга. Як працавітыя «інжынеры экасістэм», гэтыя дужыя жывёлы расчышчаюць шырокія лугі ад празмерных хмызнякоў, што забяспечвае асяроддзе пражывання для рэдкіх відаў птушак. Расселенные в рамках Программы развития ООН стада совершенно свободно пасутся на огромных природных поймах рек Припять и Ствига. Как трудолюбивые «инженеры экосистем», эти выносливые животные расчищают обширные луга от чрезмерного кустарника, что обеспечивает среду обитания для редких видов птиц. Их имя глубоко укоренилось в регионе, ведь даже название исторического города Туров напрямую происходит от славянского слова «тур». Благодаря этой успешной инициативе Житковичский район сегодня сочетает современное восстановление дикой природы (ревайлдинг) с защитой исторически важного культурного ландшафта.

In Belarus, particularly in the Zhitkovichi District near the town of Turau, the legendary aurochs are making a fascinating comeback thanks to an ambitious ecological project. Since the true aurochs went extinct back in 1627, conservationists are relying on the method of "back-breeding" to replace the extinct wild cattle with genetically close descendants like Heck cattle. Released as part of a UN Development Programme initiative, the herds graze completely free on the vast, natural floodplains of the Pripyat and Stviga rivers. Acting as diligent "ecosystem engineers," these robust animals keep the expansive meadows free of excessive brushwood, thereby securing the habitat for rare, endangered bird species. Their legacy is deeply rooted in the region, as even the name of the historic neighboring town of Turau is directly derived from the Slavic word for aurochs. Through this successful initiative, the Zhitkovichi District today combines modern rewilding efforts with the preservation of a historically significant cultural landscape.

In Belarus, insbesondere im südbelarussischen Zhitkovski Rajon nahe der Stadt Turau, erleben die legendären Auerochsen durch ein ambitioniertes ökologisches Projekt eine faszinierende Rückkehr. Da der echte Ur bereits im Jahr 1627 ausstarb, setzen Naturschützer hier auf die Methode des sogenannten „Back-Breeding“ (Abbildzüchtung), um das ausgestorbene Wildrind durch genetisch nahestehende Abkömmlinge wie das Heckrind zu ersetzen. Durch diese erfolgreiche Initiative verbindet der Zhitkovski Rajon heute moderne Wildnisaufforstung (Rewilding) mit dem Schutz einer historisch bedeutsamen Kulturlandschaft.

 La città italiana di Siracusa, situata sulla costa sud-orientale della Sicilia, vanta una storia affascinante che risale a oltre 2.700 anni fa. Un tempo fu una delle metropoli più potenti del mondo greco antico, arrivando persino a competere con la grande Atene. Il cuore storico della città batte sull'idilliaca isola di Ortigia, collegata alla terraferma da ponti e caratterizzata da palazzi barocchi e vicoli stretti. Dall'altra parte, il Parco Archeologico della Neapolis affascina con un immenso teatro greco e la leggendaria latomia a forma di orecchio, nota come "Orecchio di Dionisio". In quanto patria del famoso matematico Archimede, Siracusa unisce ancora oggi lo spirito antico con un vivace fascino italiano. Dal 2005, questo capolavoro di storia e architettura fa meritatamente parte del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.

Istočnosrpski grad Bor administrativni je centar istoimenog okruga i smešten je u brdovitom pejzažu geološke regije Timok. Njegov nastanak i nagli uspon u 20. veku neraskidivo su povezani sa otkrićem bogatih nalazišta bakra i zlata 1903. godine. Danas se ovaj grad smatra jednim od najznačajnijih rudarskih i industrijskih centara u celoj Jugoistočnoj Evropi. Nakon što je kineski gigant Zijin Mining 2018. godine preuzeo tradicionalni rudarski kompleks, lokalna ekonomija doživljava masovni procvat. Međutim, ova ubrzana industrijska ekspanzija i proširenje površinskih kopova donose značajne ekološke izazove i primetno opterećenje za prirodu i okolna sela. Uprkos ovim modernim kontrastima, region oko Bora nudi i privlačne destinacije za prirodni turizam, poput obližnjeg Borskog jezera i Nacionalnog parka Đerdap.

The eastern Serbian city of Bor is the administrative center of the district of the same name and is nestled in the hilly landscape of the Timok geological region. Its origin and rapid rise in the 20th century are inextricably linked to the discovery of rich copper and gold deposits in 1903. Today, the city is considered one of the most important mining and industrial hubs in all of Southeast Europe. Following the takeover of the traditional mining complex by the Chinese conglomerate Zijin Mining in 2018, the local economy has experienced a massive boom. However, this accelerated industrial expansion and the enlargement of open-pit mines bring significant environmental challenges and noticeable strain on nature and the surrounding villages. Despite these modern contrasts, the region around Bor also offers attractive destinations for nature tourism, such as nearby Lake Bor and the Đerdap National Park.

Die ostserbische Stadt Bor ist das administrative Zentrum des gleichnamigen Bezirks und liegt eingebettet in die hügelige Landschaft der geologischen Region Timok. Ihre Entstehung und ihr rasanter Aufstieg im 20. Jahrhundert sind untrennbar mit der Entdeckung reicher Kupfer- und Goldvorkommen im Jahr 1903 verbunden. Heute gilt die Stadt als einer der bedeutendsten Bergbau- und Industriestandorte in ganz Südosteuropa. Nach der Übernahme des traditionsreichen Bergbaukomplexes durch den chinesischen Großkonzern Zijin Mining im Jahr 2018 erlebt die lokale Wirtschaft einen massiven Aufschwung. Mikulov - Nikolsburg

 Mikulovská synagoga, známá také jako Horní synagoga, byla postavena v polovině 16. století a kdysi sloužila jako duchovní centrum moravských Židů. Po ničivém požáru v roce 1719 prošla budova zásadní přestavbou, která jí vtiskla její současnou barokní podobu. Nejvýraznějším prvkem interiéru je stropní konstrukce tvořená čtyřmi kopulemi, které podpírá ústřední čtyřsloupový pilíř. Tato jedinečná architektura z ní činí poslední dochovanou synagogu takzvaného polského typu v celé České republice. Po desetiletích chátrání během druhé světové války a po ní byla historická budova v 70. a 80. letech 20. století nákladně zrekonstruována. Dnes je odsvěcená synagoga využívána Regionálním muzeem k pořádání koncertů a výstav věnovaných židovské kultuře.

Die Synagoge von Nikolsburg, auch bekannt als die Obere Synagoge, wurde Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts erbaut und war einst das geistliche Zentrum der mährischen Juden. Nach einem verheerenden Brand im Jahr 1719 erhielt das Bauwerk durch einen grundlegenden Umbau sein heutiges, barockes Aussehen. Das markanteste Merkmal im Inneren ist die Deckenkonstruktion aus vier Kuppeln, die von einem zentralen, viersäuligen Pfeiler getragen werden. Diese Architektur macht sie zur letzten erhaltenen Synagoge des sogenannten polnischen Typs in ganz Tschechien. Nach Jahrzehnten des Verfalls während und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde das historische Gebäude in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren aufwendig saniert. Heute wird die profanierte Synagoge vom Regionalmuseum für Ausstellungen zur jüdischen Kultur sowie für Konzerte genutzt.

The Mikulov Synagogue, also known as the Upper Synagogue, was built in the mid-16th century and once served as the spiritual center of the Moravian Jewish community. Following a devastating fire in 1719, the building underwent a major reconstruction that gave it its current Baroque appearance. The most striking interior feature is the ceiling construction of four domes supported by a central, four-pillared pier. This unique architecture makes it the last remaining synagogue of the so-called "Polish type" in the entire Czech Republic. After decades of decline during and after World War II, the historic building was meticulously restored in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, the secularized synagogue is used by the regional museum for concerts and exhibitions dedicated to Jewish culture.

 Российский портовый город Мурманск расположен на крайнем северо-западе страны на Кольском полуострове и считается крупнейшим городом мира за Полярным кругом. Несмотря на экстремальное географическое положение, его стратегически важный глубоководный порт на Баренцевом море остается полностью свободным ото льда круглый год благодаря ответвлению теплого Гольфстрима. Основанный в 1916 году под названием Романов-на-Мурмане, он стал последним городом, заложенным в Российской империи перед её распадом. В годы Великой Отечественной войны город приобрел историческое значение как важнейший пункт прибытия союзных полярных конвоев, за что позже был удостоен почетного звания «Город-герой». Визуальной визитной карточкой города является монументальный памятник «Алёша» — гигантская бетонная статуя солдата, которая возвышается на сопке и защищающе смотрит на порт. Помимо своей индустриальной роли, Мурманск привлекает множество искателей приключений, желающих своими глазами увидеть завораживающее природное зрелище северного сияния и многонедельную полярную ночь в период ледяной зимы.

 The Russian port city of Murmansk is located in the extreme northwest of the country on the Kola Peninsula and is considered the largest city in the world north of the Arctic Circle. Despite its extreme geographical location, its strategically important deep-sea port on the Barents Sea remains completely ice-free all year round thanks to the remnants of the warm Gulf Stream. Founded in 1916 under the name Romanov-na-Murmane, it was the final city officially established by the Russian Empire before its collapse. During World War II, the city gained historical significance as a crucial arrival point for Allied supply convoys, which later earned it the honorable title of "Hero City." The visual landmark of the city is the monumental Alyosha Monument, a gigantic concrete statue of a soldier that stands high on a hill, gazing protectively over the harbor. In addition to its industrial role, Murmansk attracts many adventure seekers who wish to witness the fascinating natural spectacle of the Northern Lights and the weeks-long polar night during the icy winter months.
