Višegrad

Mehmed Pasha Sokolović Bridge
The Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad is considered one of the most significant masterpieces of Ottoman architecture in modern-day Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built at the end of the 16th century by order of Grand Vizier Mehmed Paša Sokolović, who wished to create a lasting connection to his birth region. The famous court architect Mimar Sinan designed the structure, which impresses with its eleven pointed arches and elegant symmetry over the Drina River. The bridge gained worldwide fame primarily through Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, who created a literary monument to it in his novel "The Bridge on the Drina." Today, the structure symbolizes the turbulent history of the Balkans and serves as a stone witness to the meeting of different cultures and eras. Since 2007, this impressive monument has been a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts travelers from all over the world.

Banja Luka

Banja Luka, the second-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is picturesquely situated on the banks of the emerald-green Vrbas River. It is known as the administrative and cultural center of the Republika Srpska and impresses with its wide avenues and numerous parks, earning it the nickname "City of Greenery." A central landmark is the medieval Kastel Fortress, which bears witness to the region's long history of settlement. The cityscape is also shaped by architectural highlights such as the rebuilt Ferhadija Mosque and the monumental Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
