Le Château fort de Brest est situé sur le port naval de la ville de Brest (Bretagne), à l'embouchure de la rivière Penfeld. Du castellum romain du IIIe siècle à la citadelle de Vauban jusqu'à aujourd'hui, il traverse dix-sept siècles d'histoire et conserve pendant tout ce temps sa vocation originelle de forteresse militaire. Il demeure aujourd'hui un site stratégique de première importance.
The Brest Fortress is located at the naval port of the city of Brest (Brittany) at the mouth of the Penfeld River. From the Roman fort of the 3rd century to the citadel of Vauban, it has gone through seventeen centuries of history to the present day, and throughout this time it has preserved its original function as a military fortress. Today, the fortress is still a strategic site of the highest importance.
Die Brester Festung befindet sich am Marinehafen der Stadt Brest (Bretagne) an der Mündung des Flusses Penfeld. Vom römischen Kastell aus dem 3. Jahrhundert bis zur Zitadelle von Vauban durchmacht sie bis heute siebzehn Jahrhunderte Geschichte und bewahrte während dieser ganzen Zeit ihre ursprüngliche Funktion als Militärfestung. Auch heute noch ist die Festung ein strategischer Ort von höchster Bedeutung.
