The Catalan language is still spoken by a significant part of the local population, in addition to Italian and Sardinian, making Alghero a unique place in Italy for its linguistic diversity.
The city has beautiful beaches, a historic city wall, ancient churches and a vibrant cultural life. It is also an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding region, rich in unspoilt nature and archaeological sites.
