Il Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II è un monumentale monumento nazionale a Roma, eretto in onore di Vittorio Emanuele II, il primo re dell'Italia unita. La sua costruzione iniziò nel 1885 e fu parzialmente inaugurato nel 1911, ma il completamento definitivo avvenne solo nel 1927. Il monumento si trova sul Campidoglio e si distingue per la sua imponente architettura neoclassica in marmo bianco. Ospita la Tomba del Milite Ignoto e offre una vista mozzafiato su Roma dalla sua terrazza panoramica. A causa delle sue dimensioni e del suo aspetto distintivo, il monumento ha guadagnato vari soprannomi popolari, tra cui "la torta nuziale" o "la macchina da scrivere".

The monument is located on the Capitoline Hill and is distinguished by its impressive neoclassical architecture in white marble. It houses the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and offers a breathtaking view of Rome from its panoramic terrace. Due to its size and distinctive appearance, the monument has earned various popular nicknames, including "the wedding cake" or "the typewriter."

Das Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II ist ein monumentales Nationaldenkmal in Rom, das zu Ehren von Viktor Emanuel II., dem ersten König des vereinten Italiens, errichtet wurde. Der Bau begann 1885 und wurde 1911 teilweise eingeweiht, die endgültige Fertigstellung erfolgte jedoch erst 1927. Das Denkmal befindet sich auf dem Kapitolshügel und zeichnet sich durch seine beeindruckende neoklassizistische Architektur aus weißem Marmor aus. Es beherbergt das Grabmal des unbekannten Soldaten und bietet von seiner Panoramaterrasse einen atemberaubenden Blick über Rom.
