Weilburg

 Die Kleinstadt Weilburg liegt malerisch auf einem Bergsporn, umflossen von einer Schleife des Flusses Lahn, und ist bekannt für ihr einzigartiges, fast vollständig erhaltenes historisches Stadtbild. Dominierend über der Stadt erhebt sich das Schloss Weilburg, eine der bedeutendsten barocken Schlossanlagen Hessens. Die Ursprünge des Schlosses reichen bis ins Mittelalter zurück, doch seine heutige prachtvolle Form erhielt es im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert unter den Grafen und späteren Fürsten von Nassau-Weilburg. Das Ensemble umfasst einen weitläufigen Terrassengarten, beeindruckende Hofanlagen und eine Schlosskirche. Heute dient ein Großteil des Komplexes als Schlossmuseum, das die fürstlichen Wohnkultur und Geschichte der Region präsentiert.

 The small town of Weilburg is picturesquely situated on a mountain spur, encircled by a loop of the Lahn river, and is known for its unique, almost entirely preserved historic townscape. Dominating the town is Weilburg Castle, one of the most significant Baroque palace complexes in Hesse. The castle's origins date back to the Middle Ages, but it received its magnificent current form in the 17th and 18th centuries under the Counts and later Princes of Nassau-Weilburg. The ensemble includes extensive terraced gardens, impressive courtyards, and a castle church. Today, a large part of the complex serves as the Castle Museum, which showcases the princely residential culture and history of the region.
