Ouro Preto, localizada nas montanhas de Minas Gerais, é uma das mais importantes cidades barrocas do Brasil e foi o centro da grande corrida do ouro no século XVIII. A cidade encanta por suas ladeiras íngremes de pedra sabão e uma arquitetura impressionante que reflete a imensa riqueza do período colonial. Ouro Preto é especialmente famosa por suas inúmeras igrejas, onde se podem admirar as magníficas esculturas e entalhes do lendário artista Aleijadinho. Devido ao seu conjunto histórico excepcionalmente bem preservado, a cidade foi o primeiro sítio brasileiro a ser declarado Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO, em 1980. 

Ouro Preto, nestled in the mountains of Minas Gerais, is one of Brazil's most significant Baroque cities and served as the epicenter of the great gold rush in the 18th century. The city captivates visitors with its steep, cobblestone streets and impressive architecture that reflects the immense wealth of the colonial era. Ouro Preto is particularly famous for its numerous churches, where the magnificent sculptures and carvings of the legendary artist Aleijadinho can be admired. Due to its exceptionally well-preserved historical ensemble, the city was the first Brazilian site to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1980. 

Ouro Preto, gelegen in den Bergen von Minas Gerais, ist eine der bedeutendsten Barockstädte Brasiliens und war im 18. Jahrhundert das Zentrum des großen Goldrausches. Die Stadt besticht durch ihre steilen, kopfsteingepflasterten Gassen und eine beeindruckende Architektur, die den immensen Reichtum der Kolonialzeit widerspiegelt. Besonders berühmt ist Ouro Preto für seine zahlreichen Kirchen, in denen die prachtvollen Skulpturen und Schnitzereien des legendären Künstlers Aleijadinho zu bewundern sind. Aufgrund ihres außergewöhnlich gut erhaltenen historischen Ensembles wurde die Stadt bereits 1980 als erste brasilianische Stätte in das UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe aufgenommen.
