When Frau Hitt, a giant queen, met a poor woman asking for bread, she gave her a piece of rock instead. And when her son came home dirty, she ordered that he should be cleaned with bread. Both events ended with Frau Hitt being turned into stone. Until today and beyond, this hard-hearted woman sits on her horse, high above Innsbruck, cursed for eternity.

Als Frau Hitt, eine Riesenkönigin, eine arme Frau traf, die um Brot bat, gab sie ihr stattdessen ein Stück Stein. Und als ihr Sohn schmutzig nach Hause kam, ordnete sie an, dass er mit Brot gewaschen werden sollte. Beide Ereignisse endeten damit, dass Frau Hitt in Stein verwandelt wurde. Bis heute und darüber hinaus sitzt diese hartherzige Frau auf ihrem Pferd, hoch über Innsbruck, verflucht in alle Ewigkeit.

The First Fleet Rio de Janeiro: August 1787

 After initial storms, the latter part of the journey from Teneriffe to Rio de Janeiro was blessed with warm weather and favourable winds. The Fleet arrived on 6 August 1787 after eight weeks travelling south across the Atlantic Ocean. The city of Rio provided welcome relief and the officiers, marines, sailors and civilians explored the city, shopped at the bustling markets and watched the frequent religious processions and ceremonies. One woman, however, was otherwise engaged. On board the Prince of Wales, Jane Scott, wife of diarist and Marine Sergeant, James Scott, gave birth to a baby girl.On 5 September the Fleet set sail for the Cape of Good Hope to a twenty-one gun salute, a mark of respect from the Viceroy of Brazil.

 Nach anfänglichen Stürmen war der letzte Teil der Reise von Teneriffa nach Rio de Janeiro mit warmem Wetter und günstigen Winden gesegnet. Die Flotte traf am 6. August 1787 ein, nachdem sie acht Wochen lang den Atlantischen Ozean in Richtung Süden überquert hatte. Die Stadt Rio bot eine willkommene Abwechslung, und die Offiziere, Marinesoldaten, Matrosen und Zivilisten erkundeten die Stadt, kauften auf den belebten Märkten ein und beobachteten die häufigen religiösen Prozessionen und Zeremonien. The First Fleet Departure: May 1787

 Two hundred years ago, the convoy of eleven ships comprising the First Fleet sailed from Portsmouth, England, bound for Botany Bay more than eight months away. Abroad were about 750 convicts, plus marines, naval officiers, sailors and civilians, under the leadership of the Governor-Elect of the British penal colony in New South Wales, Captain Arthur Phillip. Preparations for departure had been underway for several months as convicts were assembled from jails and prison hulks around the country and the fleet readied for its arduous journey. After many delays, the First Fleet departed on 13 May 1787, headed for its first part of call, Teneriffein the Canary Islands.

 Vor zweihundert Jahren segelte der Konvoi von elf Schiffen der Ersten Flotte von Portsmouth, England, in Richtung Botany Bay. Die Reise dauerte mehr als acht Monate. An Bord befanden sich etwa 750 Sträflinge sowie Marinesoldaten, Marineoffiziere, Matrosen und Zivilisten unter der Führung des gewählten Gouverneurs der britischen Strafkolonie in Neusüdwales, Kapitän Arthur Phillip.  Kellie's Castle is located at Batu Gajah, Perak, Malaysia. The unfinished ruined mansion was built by a Scottish planter named William Kellie-Smith. The construction started in 1915 and ended in 1926 before completion.

Ybor City, FL

 Ybor City was named for Spanish cigar factory owner Vincente Martinez Ybor. The city was built to house his factories and their workers, when they moved in 1886 from Key West. Other manufacturers of hand-rolled cigars soon followed suit and made their way to Ybor City.

Ybor City wurde nach dem spanischen Zigarrenfabrikanten Vincente Martinez Ybor benannt.  One World Trade Center, also known as "Freedom Tower" is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in New York City. The One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest in the world. The supertall structure has the same name as the North Tower of the original World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

 Lightning whelk
The whelk family is one of the largest and most diversified of all the families of marine snails. One species, the Lightning Whelk, is a member of a genus which has been native to the southeastern United States for over sixty million years. The Lightning Whelk is related to the conch family and is one of the largest of the seashelled animals. With its large upper body, which tapers to a point, and its wide outer lip, the Lightning Whelk's shell is one of the most striking of all seashells. While most seashells grow in a clockwise manner, the Lightning Whelk grows counter-clockwise or "left-handed". Lightning Whelk feed almost exclusively on hard shelled clams. The Whelk exerts a strong, steady pull with its massive, muscular foot and forces the clam's shell valves apart. The Lightning Whelk then wedges the edge of its shell between the clam's valves so the clam is unable to close.

Während die meisten Muscheln im Uhrzeigersinn wachsen, wächst die Blitzmuschel gegen den Uhrzeigersinn oder "linkshändig". Wellhornschnecken ernähren sich fast ausschließlich von hartschaligen Muscheln. Die Wellhornschnecke übt mit ihrem massiven, muskulösen Fuß einen starken, gleichmäßigen Zug aus und drückt die Muschelklappen auseinander. Die Wellhornschnecke klemmt dann den Rand ihrer Schale zwischen die Ventile der Muschel, so dass sich die Muschel nicht mehr schließen kann.
