Biskupin to znaczące stanowisko archeologiczne w Polsce, często nazywane „polskimi Pompejami”, które stanowi dobrze zachowaną ufortyfikowaną osadę kultury łużyckiej z wczesnej epoki żelaza (około VIII wieku p.n.e.). Osada, pierwotnie położona na wyspie na Jeziorze Biskupińskim, słynie z imponujących konstrukcji drewnianych, w tym owalnego wału obronnego i licznych, podobnych do siebie domostw w konstrukcji zrębowej, ułożonych w równoległych rzędach. Wykopaliska archeologiczne rozpoczęły się w 1934 roku i dostarczyły szczegółowych informacji na temat życia ówczesnych mieszkańców, którzy zajmowali się rolnictwem, hodowlą zwierząt i rybołówstwem. Dziś Biskupin to skansen, który prezentuje rekonstrukcje prehistorycznej osady i ożywia historię poprzez coroczne festiwale archeologiczne.

Biskupin
Biskupin is a significant archaeological site in Poland, often referred to as the "Polish Pompeii," representing a well-preserved fortified settlement of the Lusatian culture from the early Iron Age (around the 8th century BCE). The settlement, originally located on an island in Lake Biskupin, is known for its impressive wooden constructions, including an oval defensive wall and numerous similar log houses arranged in parallel rows. Archaeological excavations began in 1934 and revealed detailed insights into the lives of its inhabitants, who engaged in farming, animal husbandry, and fishing. Today, Biskupin is an open-air museum that showcases reconstructions of the prehistoric settlement and brings history to life through annual archaeological festivals.

Biskupin ist eine bedeutende archäologische Stätte in Polen, oft als "polnisches Pompeji" bezeichnet, die eine gut erhaltene befestigte Siedlung der Lausitzer Kultur aus der frühen Eisenzeit (etwa 8. Jahrhundert v. Chr.) darstellt. Die Siedlung, ursprünglich auf einer Insel im Biskupin-See gelegen, ist bekannt für ihre beeindruckenden Holzkonstruktionen, darunter eine ovale Befestigungsmauer und zahlreiche gleichartige Blockhäuser, die in parallelen Reihen angeordnet waren. Archäologische Ausgrabungen begannen 1934 und legten detaillierte Einblicke in das Leben der damaligen Bewohner frei, die Ackerbau, Viehzucht und Fischerei betrieben. Heute ist Biskupin ein Freilichtmuseum, das Rekonstruktionen der prähistorischen Siedlung zeigt und durch jährliche Archäologiefestivals Geschichte erlebbar macht.
