 The capital, Madrid, is located in the centre of Spain and has a metropolitan area with about 7 million inhabitants. The Plaza Mayor (Main Square) is a rectangular square in the centre of the capital. On the postcard you can see the Casa de la Panadería (Bakery House) and the statue of Felipe III.

Die Hauptstadt Madrid liegt im Zentrum Spaniens und hat ein Ballungsgebiet mit rund 7 Millionen Einwohnern. Die Plaza Mayor (Hauptplatz) ist ein rechteckiger Platz im Zentrum der Hauptstadt. Auf der Postkarte sind die Casa de la Panadería (Haus der Bäckerei) und die Statue von Felipe III zu sehen.

Toddington Station - Bahnhof Toddington

 

Toddington station served the eponymous village of Toddington in Gloucestershire, England. It is located on the Honeybourne Line, which connected Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1906 and was a center of fruit and milk traffic. Due to declining revenue, it was closed to passenger traffic first in 1960 and then to freight traffic in 1976. In 1980 the tracks were lifted.

Der Bahnhof Toddington bediente das gleichnamige Dorf Toddington in Gloucestershire, England. Er liegt an der Honeybourne Line, die Cheltenham und Stratford-upon-Avon verband. Er wurde 1906 von der Great Western Railway eröffnet und war ein Zentrum des Obst- und Milchverkehrs. Auf Grund von sinkenden Einnahmen wurde er 1960 zunächst für den Personenverkehr, 1976 auch für den Güterverkehr geschlossen. 1980 wurden die Gleise aufgehoben.

Austin wurde 1835 unter dem Namen Waterloo gegründet, aber schon drei Jahre später nach dem Gründer der damals unabhängigen Republik Texas nach Stephen F. Austin umbenannt. 2020 lebten rund 960 000 Menschen in Austin. 

Although Austin is only the fourth largest city in the US state of Texas, it is its capital. Austin was founded in 1835 under the name Waterloo, but was renamed after Stephen F. Austin, the founder of the then independent Republic of Texas,  just three years later. In 2020, around 960,000 people lived in Austin.

Bad Kreuznach

 

Die Kurstadt Bad Kreuznach liegt am Fluss Nahe in Rheinland-Pfalz, ca. 30km von der Landeshauptstadt Mainz entfernt. Bad Kreuznach ist für seine Therme, das Gradierwerk zur Salzgewinnung sowie das Haus des Wunderheilers und Astrologen, Johann Georg Faust (um 1507), der Goethe zu seinem Werk "Faust" inspiriert haben soll.

The spa town of Bad Kreuznach is located on the river Nahe in Rhineland-Palatinate, about 30km from the state capital Mainz. Bad Kreuznach is famous for its thermal baths, the graduation works for salt production and the house of the miracle healer and astrologer, Johann Georg Faust (around 1507), who is said to have inspired Goethe to write his work "Faust".

மாமல்லபுரம் கடற்கரைக் கோயில் - Sea Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram - Küstentempel von Mahabalipuram

The Shore temple is located on the beach of Mahabalipuram. It was built in the 8th century AD by the Pallava king Rajasimha Narasimhavarman II. and is one of the oldest stone temples in South India. Inside the temple is a shrine dedicated to the god Shiva. According to a legend, the Shore temple is the last of seven temples to have survived. It has been a UNESCO site since 1984.

Der Küstentempel befindet sich am Strand von Mahabalipuram. Er wurde im 8. Jahrhunder n. Chr. vom Pallava-König Rajasimha Narasimhavarman II. erbaut und gehört zu den ältesten Steintempel in Südindien. Im Inneren des Tempels befindet sich ein Schrein, der dem Gott Shiva geweiht ist. Einer Legende zufolge ist der Küstentempel der letzt von sieben Tempeln, der erhalten geblieben ist. Seit 1984 ist er Teil der UNESCO.

A festői Malom-tó a nyugat-magyarországi Tapolca szívében terül el, és a régió egyik legromantikusabb kirándulóhelyének számít. A tó vizét meleg karsztforrások táplálják, amelyek közvetlenül a város híres föld alatti barlangrendszeréből törnek a felszínre. A mintegy 18 Celsius-fokos állandó vízhőmérsékletnek köszönhetően a varázslatos tó még a leghidegebb teleken sem fagy be soha. A vízparti együttes legfőbb látványossága a 13. századi történelmi vízimalom, amelynek tekintélyes faja a mai napig ott magasodik a tó partján. A színesre festett házhomlokzatok, a hangulatos sétányi kávézók és a tóban úszkáló aranyhalak szinte mediterrán hangulatot kölcsönöznek a helynek.

Der idyllische Mühlenteich liegt im Herzen der westungarischen Kleinstadt Tapolca und gilt als eines der romantischsten Ausflugsziele der Region. Gespeist wird das Gewässer von warmen Karstquellen, die direkt aus dem berühmten unterirdischen Höhlensystem der Stadt an die Oberfläche treten. Durch die konstante Wassertemperatur von etwa 18 Grad Celsius friert der malerische See selbst in strengen Wintern niemals zu. Blickfang des Ensembles ist die historische Wassermühle aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, deren mächtiges Holzrad bis heute am Ufer des Sees thront. Bunt getünchte Häuserfassaden, gemütliche Promenade-Cafés und schwimmende Goldfische verleihen dem Ort eine beinahe mediterrane Atmosphäre.

Mill Lake
The idyllic Mill Lake lies in the heart of the West Hungarian town of Tapolca and is considered one of the region's most romantic destinations. The body of water is fed by warm karst springs that emerge directly to the surface from the city's famous underground cave system. Thanks to a constant water temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, the picturesque lake never freezes, even during harsh winters. The focal point of the area is the historic 13th-century watermill, whose grand wooden wheel still sits prominently on the lake's shore. Brightly painted house facades, cozy promenade cafés, and swimming goldfish lend the setting an almost Mediterranean atmosphere.

  A Festetics-kastély egy barokk kastély Keszthelyen, Zala megye. Ez Magyarország harmadik legnagyobb vára. A kastély építése 1745-ben kezdődött, és azóta többször bővítették. Ma a kastélyban múzeum működik, amely különösen könyvtára miatt népszerű.

Das Schloss Festetics ist ein Barockschloss in Keszthely, Komitat Zala. Es ist das drittgrößte Schloss Ungarns. Der Bau des Schloss begann im Jahr 1745. Seitdem wurde es mehrfach erweitert. Heute befindet sich im Schloss ein Museum, das besonders für seine Bibliothek geschätzt wird.

Festetics Castle is a baroque castle in Keszthely, Zala County. It is the third largest castle in Hungary. The construction of the castle began in 1745 and since then it has been extended several times. Today there is a museum in the castle, which is especially appreciated for its library.

 An aerial view of the city around Circular Quay with the Harbour Bridge in the foreground and the Opera House on the opposite headland. The construction of the Harbour Bridge was completed in 1932. It is the world's largest steel arch bridge and it's 1149m long. The bridge is 134m above sea level. The Opera House was completed in 1973 and designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon and opened by Queen Elizabeth II.

Die Wartburg ist eines der bedeutendsten Baudenkmäler Deutschlands. Sie befindet sich in Thüringen, oberhalb der Stadt Eisenach. Die Wartburg wurde um 1067 errichtet und 1999 in die Liste der UNESCO aufgenommen. Zu den berühmten Bewohnern und Gästen zählen u.a. die Heilige Elisabeth, Martin Luther und Franz Liszt.

 

 Wartburg Castle is one of the most important architectural monuments in Germany. It is located in Thuringia, above the city of Eisenach. The Wartburg was built around 1067 and was included in the UNESCO list in 1999. Among its famous residents and guests are Saint Elizabeth, Martin Luther and Franz Liszt.

Sam Houston (1793 - 1863)

 Fought at The Battle of Jacinto capturing Santa Ana where he signs an armistice. Elected twice to President of Texas (1836 & 1841) and in 1846 he heads to Washington to serve as one of Texas' first senators serving three terms.

 

Er kämpfte in der Schlacht von Jacinto und nahm Santa Ana ein, wo er einen Waffenstillstand unterzeichnete. Er wurde zweimal zum Präsidenten von Texas gewählt (1836 und 1841) und ging 1846 nach Washington, um als einer der ersten texanischen Senatoren drei Amtsperioden lang zu dienen.
