India makes half a billion matchboxes per day which accounts to one in every third matchbox used in the world. Phillumeny, the art of collecting matchboxes covers for the artworks adorned them. These matchbox artwork spectrum extends from simple everyday objects, to animals and logos to vivid imaginary characters and Godly figures. Matchbox art tells us about blending modernity and tradition and the influence of global consumerism in everyday life. 

In Indien werden täglich eine halbe Milliarde Streichholzschachteln hergestellt, das ist jede dritte Streichholzschachtel der Welt. Phillumenie, das Sammeln von Streichholzschachteln, bezieht sich auf die Kunstwerke, mit denen sie verziert sind. Das Spektrum dieser Streichholzschachtel-Kunstwerke reicht von einfachen Alltagsgegenständen über Tiere und Logos bis hin zu lebendigen Fantasiegestalten und göttlichen Figuren. Nashville, TN

 

Nashville was founded by James Robertson and a party of Wataugans in 1779. It was originally called Fort Nashborough after the American Revolutionary War hero Francis Nash. Nashville quickly grew because of its prime location, accessibility as a river port, and its later status as a major railroad center. In 1806, Nashville was incorporated as a city and in 1843, the city was named the permanent capital of the state of Tennessee.

 Nashville wurde 1779 von James Robertson und einer Gruppe von Watauganern gegründet. Ursprünglich hieß die Stadt Fort Nashborough, nach dem amerikanischen Revolutionskriegshelden Francis Nash. Nashville wuchs schnell aufgrund seiner hervorragenden Lage, seiner Zugänglichkeit als Flusshafen und seines späteren Status als wichtiges Eisenbahnzentrum. Im Jahr 1806 wurde Nashville zur Stadt erhoben, und 1843 zur ständigen Hauptstadt des Bundesstaates Tennessee ernannt.
