Ферапонтов монастырь — один из самых известных монастырских комплексов России, основанный в конце XIV века Ферапонтом, учеником Сергия Радонежского. Он живописно расположен на берегу Бородаевского озера в северной части Вологодской области. Монастырь славится в первую очередь фресками средневекового иконописца Дионисия, украшающими стены Рождественского собора. Эти фрески начала XVI века являются единственной сохранившейся работой этого мастера. Благодаря своей уникальной архитектурной и художественной ценности Ферапонтов монастырь в 2000 году был внесен в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.
Ferapontov Monastery is one of the most famous monastery complexes in Russia, founded in the late 14th century by Ferapont, a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh. It is picturesquely situated on the shore of Lake Borodavskoye in the northern part of the Vologda Oblast. The monastery is famous above all for the frescoes by the medieval icon painter Dionisius, which adorn the walls of the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral. These frescoes from the early 16th century are the only surviving work by this artist. Due to its unique architectural and artistic significance, the Ferapontov Monastery was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
Das Kloster Ferapontow ist eine der berühmtesten Klosteranlagen Russlands und wurde im späten 14. Jahrhundert von Ferapont, einem Jünger des Heiligen Sergius von Radonesch, gegründet. Es liegt malerisch am Ufer des Borodawa-Sees im nördlichen Teil der Oblast Wologda. Berühmt ist das Kloster vor allem für die Fresken des mittelalterlichen Ikonenmalers Dionissi, die die Wände der Kathedrale Mariä Geburt schmücken. Diese Fresken aus dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert sind das einzige erhaltene Werk dieses Künstlers. Wegen seiner einzigartigen architektonischen und künstlerischen Bedeutung wurde das Kloster Ferapontow im Jahr 2000 in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen.
