Basel - Bâle

 Das Basler Münster, hoch über dem Rhein auf dem Münsterhügel gelegen, ist das unverkennbare Wahrzeichen der Schweizer Kulturstadt. Erbaut zwischen dem 11. und 15. Jahrhundert, vereint die ehemalige Bischofskirche auf faszinierende Weise Stilelemente der Romanik und der Gotik. Besonders charakteristisch sind das rote Sandsteingewölbe, die bunt gemusterten Dachziegel und die beiden markanten Türme namens Georg und Martin. Im geschichtsträchtigen Innenraum befindet sich unter anderem das Grabmal des berühmten Humanisten Erasmus von Rotterdam, der hier seine letzte Ruhestätte fand. Von der direkt angrenzenden Aussichtsterrasse, der sogenannten Pfalz, genießt man einen spektakulären Blick über den Fluss und die Dächer der Altstadt.

Construite entre le XIe et le XVe siècle, l'ancienne église épiscopale associe de manière fascinante les styles architecturaux roman et gothique. Ses éléments les plus caractéristiques sont ses murs en grès rouge, ses tuiles colorées aux motifs variés et ses deux tours marquantes nommées Georges et Martin. L'intérieur chargé d'histoire abrite notamment le tombeau du célèbre humaniste Érasme de Rotterdam, qui y a trouvé sa dernière demeure. Depuis la terrasse panoramique directement adjacente, appelée le Pfalz, on profite d'une vue spectaculaire sur le fleuve et les toits de la vieille ville.

The Basel Minster, perched high above the Rhine on the Münsterhügel, is the unmistakable landmark of the Swiss cultural city. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, the former cathedral fascinatingly combines Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Particularly characteristic are the red sandstone masonry, the brightly patterned roof tiles, and the two prominent towers named Georg and Martin. Inside the history-steeped interior, one can find the tomb of the famous humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam, who found his final resting place here. From the directly adjacent viewing terrace, known as the Pfalz, visitors enjoy a spectacular view over the river and the rooftops of the old town.
